Hello! My Name is Ngozi

I founded Healing Her Institute because I am dedicated to helping girls and women heal their mental wounds in the face of hardships and obstacles. I believe that faith is the cornerstone of an individual's well-being and psychological make-up. Integrating faith with traditional psychotherapy in times of trials and tribulations will directly transform a person's hurt, pain, despair, or brokenness into something so magnificent human minds could never conceive it. I call this the transformation of God turning individuals' ashes into beauty so that they become conduits and impact the world.

Why Women and Girls Mental Health Matters

A womanist approach to mental health focuses on how women’s status in society directly affects their mental health. Women and girls are multidimensional creations that embody several roles, with each one becoming more dynamic and multifaceted as they age. As girls and women age, they go through numerous transitional periods marked by cultural and social impasses such as race, class, gender, educational status, abilities/disabilities, and sexual orientation that women and girls are often unprepared to handle. These transitional periods can be unpleasant and possibly awaken powerful thoughts, feelings, and body sensations that are uncomfortable and overwhelming.

Healing Her Institute utilizes a womanist approach to specifically identify possible cultural and social inequalities (poverty, violence, sexual victimization, acute and chronic stress) that may be influencing women and girl's mental health, precisely because researchers have linked these cultural and social disparities to an increase in mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance abuse and traumatic stress in women and girls.

Healing Her Institute counseling services provides individualized for each woman and girl. From a womanist approach, tools and resources draw from research on the prevalence and causes of mental health problems in women and girls and the best healing outcome and coping strategies for mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

Women and girls were uniquely created to be bold, confident, fearless, and free. Now is the time to get unstuck and break free. Learn how to break free from harmful and toxic patterns sopping you from living an incredible life.

We believe in doing therapy differently.

Therapy How and When You Need It

We embrace technology to the fullest- because treatment shouldn't be old-fashioned! We are proud to offer therapy both in person or via HIPPA compliant video sessions. When you are our client, you will also have your own private portal to make appointments, pay balances, and get access to insurance statements.

Easy and Unintimidating

Taking the first step in attending a therapy appointment is no easy fee. We see your courageous act, and that's why we make all appointments as comfortable as possible. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about your therapist before your appointment. If you decide to do your sessions in our office—you'll love the compassionate and relaxing atmosphere.

We Specialize in Overlapping Issues

We believe healing happens best when you're treated as a whole person, not a set of symptoms—that's why our therapists specialize in a holistic approach to all your overlapping issues. We believe therapy is for everyone, regardless of if you have a mental health diagnosis.

Our Values

web_Faith.png

FAITH

We believe there exists only one God, creator, and sustainer of all things. He is infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is the only infallible word of God. It has the final authority on all matters. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth and sinless life. The death of Jesus Christ and his bodily resurrection provide the only ground for justification, forgiveness, and salvation for all who believe.

web_Authenticity.png

Authenticity

We believe the best therapists have lived experience in addition to professional credentials and expertise. We see ourselves as human beings first, and therapists second because true transformation starts when a genuine therapist-client connection is formed. Showing up authentically creates the safest space for our clients to heal, and we are transparent about the process of therapy so that you can make informed decisions about your care.

web_Social Responsibility.png

Social Responsibility

We believe in sustainability and giving back to the community as much as possible. This looks like hosting free workshops, donating portions of workshop profits to local organizations, and providing clients from marginalized communities with sliding scale slots. Hence, they have access to high-quality therapy. We practice what we preach, which means we offer our therapists above industry pay, benefits, and time off so they can best serve you.

web_Inclusivity.png

Inclusivity

We value the inclusivity of all individuals, especially those with marginalized identities and nationalities. Our doors are open to clients from all religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.

Community

We cannot heal alone, which is why we are committed to cultivating community outside of individual therapy. As women share their stories, the participants in the circle bear witness to an act beyond the breadths of the typical therapeutic personal and collective storytelling. Participants observe a critical engagement with the power of narration that reveals struggles, grief, shame and generates new possibilities of hope, freedom, love, and social transformation individually and collectively.

Innovation

Therapy doesn't need to be old school. Our practice is at the forefront of therapy techniques, methods, and technologies to best care for our clients.
